Hartmut arrived in Singapore on the night of 24 July 2009 and got acquainted with Kayne over the weekend. Hartmut is here for an exchange programme at the NUS for one semester and will be staying at the university hall.

ReplyDeleteDear Kayne, "Platzhirchlein" means by translating every word: local (for "Platz") and deer (for "Hirsch"). The ending "-lein" in German is a belittlement, often used for cute, little things or persons. I guess the right translation in terms of meaning is a bit different. Someone English-speaking would rather say: little old bull, little top dog or little leader of the pack. But the German "Hirschlein" is much cuter than bull or dog! So let's keep to German :)
