18 months and still counting

Kayne is approaching 18 months by end July. How time flies! Getting cheekier by the minute and exhibiting 'terrible two' syndromes occasionally. Overall, still a good boy (that's in Daddy's words). Not speaking yet but definitely communicating in his own way. He is pretty good at getting us to do what he wants. He will tug at our hands or feets (especially Mommy's) and lead us to his pursuits. He sits patiently at the entrance doorstep for his shoes to be worn but shouts incessantly at the lift lobby if we take too long to lock up the house. The concept of waiting is simply incomprehensible to him at this point!

He has settled surprisingly well at his own side of the bedroom and has grown very attached to his bolsters - Bolster 1 and Bolster 2 (we imagine this is how Dr Seuss might call them). He loves a clapping audience when hitting those keys on the piano or 'strumming' the guitar. In the day, he tip toes around the house and does a vague resemblance of the MJ moonwalk at times. During evening playtime in the park, he loves to walk up slopes (on his own) and run down slopes (hand-in-hand with Mommy, not by choice of course :P).

Here are some of our favourite pictures...

Evening playtime is the best time of the day, especially if Daddy is home early.

Click on this pic to check out the mozzie above Kayne's left eye. Mommy's too busy getting a Kodak moment and Daddy...erm, oblivious. Poor boy.

Having a bubbly good time!

Fanfare

Kayne is a big fan of "justdottingaround" and erm... Susan Boyle (thanks to Daddy). When the computer lights up with the standard Microsoft starting up sound "Dnnnnnng", he'll drop everything and run to the computer as long as he's an earshot away from it.

Speaking of Susan Boyle (click on link below), believe it or not she 'cured' one of Kayne's stomach aches in recent times. He was rolling around our bed and moaning so badly nothing could soothe him. When Boyle came on (desperate measure), the ache just miraculously disappeared. This episode is something we'll remember, at least for a while.

Here are glimpses of Kayne at playgroup last week:-

Kayne having a snack with bubbly Emma

Kayne managed to sit still during snack time for erm... 1 minute? He sat next to classmate Emma and helped himself to a piece from her bowl as well. After that fleeting moment, he was off on his feet again - 'exploring'. Oh well, like what the teacher says, the food is not for sustenance but a learning experience.

Tyre track painting

Last week at playgroup, Kayne and classmates did some tyre track painting. It involved dipping toy vehicles into trays of paint and rolling them on a paper to make track marks. Kayne wasted no time. Completely ignoring the toy truck, he dipped his fingers into the purple and orange paint and the rest was history!

Not long, both his hands were drenched in paint. Paint got onto everything - his shirt, pants, socks, face, hair, Mommy's eye, hair and blouse. Classmates nearby were not spared as well. If clothes could be an indicator of how much fun he had that day, well here's what the fun-indicator has to say:

+

= MESSY FUN

It was interesting that some kids managed to keep their clothes clean. Kayne was without a doubt the messiest and the only one who had a change of clothes after the activity. Thank goodness for 100% washable paint. I wished I brought the camera to class that day.

Friends of the Zoo

The end of June was rather eventful. Kayne celebrated Daddy's birthday, attended his first playgroup and visited the Singapore Zoo. The highlights of the zoo visits were the elephant show, the white tiger taking a dip in the moat, the water slide at the 'Rainforest Kidzworld' and the tram ride!

Kayne loved the tram ride. It was the first time he sat between Daddy & Mommy not doing very much i.e. moving or wanting to stand or walk, but just sitting ever so 'obediently' absorbing the view and the special zoo scent. It was a rare event. For a tiny second, it felt as if our little boy was all grown up :)

The Elephant show

At the tram ride, Kayne got a little souvenir from the zoo - a mosquito bite between his left eyelid and eyebrow. Fortunately, the swelling has subsided.
