Giraffe rules!

3 years pass by so quickly. Our friends of the zoo membership is up this month end. We made a dash to the zoo but weather was not on our side. Highlight of the visit was definitely feeding the giraffe. K was holding the carrot stick and before he knew it, the giraffe stuck out its tongue ever so gracefully and the carrot is gone! What an experience. The zoo keeper took photos for us!

Adventures in August

Such a nice moment - seeing K swim the distance in a 1.4m deep pool! Daddy says ok next step is to teach him breathing techniques.

Next challenge, get the head into the pool!

Fort Road Swim Champ

What do you get when you have an enthusiastic kid, hot weather, hang over from music class and a donut float?

Go on, take a look...

We figured great progress in the pool came about from a combination of a few events:-

1) Moving to Fort Road and having a pool again :)

2) With living on higher grounds (14th floor), K observed how people looked while swimming from an aerial view

3) He'll monitor the pool activities daily, he'll sit at the bay window ledge (btw, we have restricted the window openings) and exclaim - "Oh nobody swimming today", or "Oh, got (some) body swimming!"

4) He'll practice his strokes indoors with legs hanging on the bay window ledge and upper body and arms on the bed, tummy hanging in mid air.

5) Teacher Maria taught the kids an imaginative song in music class where first part of the song was to row a boat to an island. When the music stops, she'll ask them "Are you there yet?" and the kids will reply "No, not yet" and then the music starts again and this time they imagine sailing amongst dolphins. At the next stop, she'll ask them again, " Are you at the island yet?" and they will reply "YES!".

6) K loves his new wet suit!

7) Last Sunday, K was his usual - changed into his wetsuit in a jifty when Daddy asked if he would like to swim. We went down to the pool with some keropok and donut float in hand. K loves playing at the pool however, never swam the distance independently till of late. Mummy still with music class hangover, sang to him the "SONG" and encouraged him to swim to the island and *TADAH* there you have it! A swim champ!

Thank you Teacher Maria!
